  • 1 cup Tamarind Water
  • 1/2 cup Arhar dal (Split Toor Dal) - cooked
  • 1 tablespoon Rasam Powder
  • 2 cloves Garlic - crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds (Saunf) - crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Whole Black Peppercorns - crushed
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (Capsicum) - roasted
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Sunflower Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli

Instructions

To begin making the Roasted Bell Pepper Rasam formula we will first roasted the green bell pepper on a flat skillet, or char-broil till it is completely roasted on the outside.Transfer to a container, allow it cool down and cut open the green bell pepper and deseed it completely, cut into small pieces and set aside.  In a saucepan, combine the bell peppers, tomatoes, curry leaves and aqua, bring to a rolling bring to a stew on high bring to temperature.

Turn off the flame Strain the liquid and allow the bell peppers, curry leaves and tomatoes to cool down and blitz it in a grinder to a even paste.Now bring to temperature the tamarind aqua along with 1 cup aqua in a big saucepan, toss in in your ground pepper and tomatoes and the rasam dusting seasoning along with garlic, fennel seeds, peppercorns.

Allow this to bring to a stew. Next pressure prepare the dal along with 1/3 cup of aqua for about 3 whistles.

Let the rasam bring to a stew for another 10 more mins.To make the tempering, bring to temperature a small cooking vessel with fat on medium bring to temperature, crackle the mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida, and toss in in dehydrated red chillies.
