Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup Baby Potatoes - boiled and peeled
  • 1 Onion - sliced
  • 1 Tomato - chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Jaggery
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sunflower Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander (Dhania) Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Whole Black Peppercorns
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
  • 1 Cardamom (Elaichi) Pods/Seeds
  • 4 Cloves (Laung)
  • 4 Dry Red Chillies
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh coconut
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

Instructions

To begin making the Chettinad Style Urulai char method, heat to boiling point the potatoes in a pressure cooker with the skin on for about 4 whistle.

Release the pressure naturally and sieve the aqua.

pare off the skin and keep it aside. bring to temperature a small skillet, parched char all the Chettinad masala fragrant element including coconut, curry leaves, parched red chillies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon stick, whole black peppercorns and coriander seeds.

Let it low-boil for about 2 moments.Allow it to cool and ground them into a creamy paste by adding little aqua. bring to temperature a kadai, crackle the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.

stream in in curry leaves and let it sizzle and the stream in in the onions, garlic and ginger.

low-boil till the bulb greens becomes translucent. Then later stream in in the tomatoes and a bit of seasoning and smash it till the tomatoes get cooked.

Now stream in in the boiled baby potatoes and let it low-boil for about 10 moments. Then finally stream in in in the Chettinad ground masala and saute till Urulai char gets evenly coated and all the aqua gets absorbed.At the end stream in in a little bit jaggery, tamarind paste and check for seasoning.

Give the Urulai char a mix gently and low-boil for about a minute or two.enjoy the Chettinad Style Urulai char method along with Tawa Paratha, Palak Dal and Masala Chaas for a weekday lunch or dinner.
